SUMMER LAI LIMITED

A summer night, a windy night,

there were no stars in the sky,

but it was as beautiful as Vincent’s Starry Night.

A summer night,  a wild night,

the moon was hiding somewhere in the sky,

and the cats were watching the lovers kissing in the midnight.

A summer night, a crazy night, 

surrounded by wondering eyes,

the two lovers were playing wildly in the city lights.

A summer night, such a night,

forgot about no future for you and I,

the two lovers were blindly in love and left everything behind.

墨藍天空雖無繁星閃爍，但夏夜晚風，竟乾爽如早秋。

抬頭不見明月，卻讓人目眩神迷。

這樣的夜，是危險的夜，容易動心，意亂情迷；

突如而來的愛情在夜空下醞釀，兩顆心於晚風中交纏一起.......，

這樣的夜，只管浪漫，沒有實際；

這樣的夜，屬於愛情，明日的太陽為盲目戀人公休一日不升起。

很久沒寫韻腳詩了。

從小就著迷於奶奶擅長的順口溜，

地方色彩，風趣詼諧，句尾押韻，折服於這樣的語言魅力。

這也影響了我中文寫作時，韻腳一致的習慣和創作風格。

英文韻腳詩倒是頭一次嘗試。

這首短詩，本是應法國朋友要求，將本篇中文翻譯成英文，

翻著翻著，不自覺就將自己的中文文字翻成英文韻腳詩了！

以往的翻譯經驗，主要是英翻中，

尤其翻譯英文歌詞，對我來說算拿手，我也樂於其中，

總是以寫詩的心態，盡力表達優美詞意同時精練自己的文字。

翻譯翻到長白髮的過程，不知不覺中累積的經驗，是英文短詩創作的很大助力，

期許自己在創作的路上更自由更精進。
